Thread: After Effects beginner question: Shrink or Pucker?

Default After Effects beginner question: Shrink or Pucker?

Is it possible to apply a "shrink" or pucker effect to a small part of the video and have that shrink effect follow the visual element around for the whole video (such as a head or a bird in the sky) ? I am new to this, so could you give me a few search terms I can use to find out how to do this? If there is something like this, is there also a local enlarging effect that will follow the element around?I'm mainly interested in the shrink type effect, though.

    Thanks.

You can use the liquify tool... this is also used in photoshop. In AE you can pucker, bloat and twist your footage with the liquify tool. You can also animate the center point of this effect. This is perfect for tracking moving objects using motion tracking.

OK, thanks. Is there a tutorial you can recommend, free or commercially available, that is a step by step kind of thing?

Video Copilot shows a pretty good example here.
