    Default Question from a newby.

    Hello All!

Completely new here, and an utter newby. I'm a mind reader from youtube and am looking to kit myself out with a relatively cheap microphone. I have a JVC gz-hm200bek, which doesn't have an audio jack. I was wondering what the best idea is for better audio.

So, general advice would be brilliant!

    Thanks,

    Liam

Depending what you actually do you might be best off with a clip on mic and a digital recorder.

Great! Ok, any advice as to some relatively cheap but decent ones?

    Thanks

I don't really know about the different mics but I would recomend the Zoom H1, H2 or H4n digital recorders. The choise is depending on your budget.

I bought an Audio Technica ATR35 for about 17 of the interweb. It's far from professional, but works OK. Next step up would cost me ten times that.
That into a Zoom H1 will give you a perfectly good starter kit for a budget. Plus you can use the H1 as a general purpose audio recorder (for ambient sound, interviews between two or more people etc)
