It's a bit windy and so the missus and I go for a walk to have a look at what the sea's doing. Of course the camcorder comes along too. Plus a tripod "just in case". Spectacular waves breaking against the harbour wall so I put the camera on the legs to do a "his and hers" looking at the sea.

    What could possibly go wrong...

This is a wonderful advert for the Canon HF11 which is working perfectly. It landed on the right where the hand-strap is and then rolled onto the front, denting the rim of the UV filter.

When I think about how I've abused this little camcorder over the past couple of years it shows how AVCHD cameras with no moving parts are that much more solid than tape-based cameras.

Well, now that we know it's ok, we can have a good laugh about it.

And the lens must be fine, the autofocus kicked in quite nicely as at landed.

Poorly framed. Dreadful "bloom". Horrendous wind noise. Horrible white sky/waves.
I'd sack everyone involved in that production except the triopod, whose comedic sense of timing was absolutely perfect.

I'd have to agree with you Tim. We were the only idiots there at the time so it was a guesstimate as to what would be in frame. Salt spray everywhere, wind howling. I don't think the tripod was blown over, I think the camera thought "sod this for a game of soldiers" and lay down for a nap.

Or may be it felt a bit sick after seeing you both start to get smoochie.

At first I was quite worried because I was assuming one of the waves was going to crash over you both, and the camera. At least the camera is ok though.
