Thread: Film exported from Premiere doesn't play well when burned on cd.

Default Film exported from Premiere doesn't play well when burned on cd.

    Hi,

I have a problem that follows:

On my cd there is one mpeg containing 10films. I wanted to copy only 4 of them, so I imported this mpeg to Premiere, cut the film, and exported each film as one file separately.
All those files play fluently while playing them from hard drive, but when they are burnt on cd, I can hear the sound, but the picture jams.

But what's strange, when I make a whole copy of that one mpeg without cutting in premiere, and burn it on cd, it plays from cd without problems.

I presume then, that the problem is in exporting the file. Any suggestions here?
I tried mov, and avi - same thing.

    thanks!

I'm going to guess your bitrate is too high. Older CD-Rom drives have a very limited amount of data that they can load per sec. So if the data rate on your video files is too high, it will cause issues. CD-Roms data rate is 1.2 Mbps per 1x speed. So a 10x CD-Rom equals 12Mbps. So if your video files is compressed to 8Mbps/sec (DVD quality), and you're trying to play the video in a 5x CD-Rom (6Mpbs), then the CD-Rom can not load the data fast enough to keep up and your video will be laggy.

What's the bitrate of the files you're burning to the CDs and what is the speed of your CD-Rom drive?

    Mike,

    Thanks for the reply.
Yesterday I manage to solve the problem somehow.
After couple of hours sitting and trying to export that film in different ways I just exported it from Vegas, not from Premiere and everything worked.
It might have had something to do with what You said.

thanks again, I will have a look at bitrate before recording on the next time.
