Thread: Issue with 480p video with V.10

Default Issue with 480p video with V.10

I am using Sony Vegas Studio 10 Platinum to edit video taken from a Sony Handycam(avi video I think) in 480p(max).When I edit the video in Vegas and the save it as either an AVI or WMV file, the quality looks a bit worse; however, more importantly their is a fairly unacceptable amount of letterboxing on all sides of the video(kind of like watching a 480p content on a HD tv/channel). I tried everything to remove it, but that is a no go there. The setting shows that it is in 480p. Any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds like you are not matching your project and render settings to the origional footage. In the properties box there is an option to match the media. Point it to one of the media files you are working on and this should set the project properties to match your footage. Then when you render just keep the same settings as the project settings.

    This should handle the "letterboxing".

Thank you for the reply; however, I don't think I saw the option there, unless I am looking at the wrong proper settings?
