    Default How do i capture canon xm1 footage to my laptop please?

    hello, need help. need to know how to capture canon xm1 footage to my HP G56 laptop. the following are the laptop ports;
    1 VGA port
    1 stereo headphone-out
    1 microphone-in
    3 USB 2.0 ports
    1 RJ45 ethernet port

    Below are the cables that came with the canon xm1;
    S-150 S-video cable
    STV-250N Stereo Video Cable
    PC-A10 SCART Adapter

    Any help would be immense. cheers.

    You'll need a IEEE 1394 firewire port and import through a firewire cable.

    You should have a 4 pin firewire port on the camera and most laptops have a 4 pin port as well. So you'll need a 4 to 4 firewire pin cable.

    You'll also need some sort of video capturing software; Premiere, Vegas, etc.

    Very few laptops have firewire built in nowadays.

    More worrying is the G56 doesn't appear to accept a PCcard or Cardbus expansion so a firewire add-on isn't possible.

    Your only solution is to capture the footage on another PC then copy it.
