Thread: Transparency

    Default Transparency

In After Effects 6.5, I want to make a title that can be imported into Premiere 1.5. I was looking for white text ontop of my black video. I don't have the option to make my document transparent, like it asks in photoshop when you create a new document. Any one know how transparency works in AE?

    Thanks,

erm havent really used AE, but what you could do is set the texts background to a really bright green then import it into prem and use a green screen key, thats how i do it with 3d titles i make in other software.

That's a neat idea. Never tried it, but will give it a shot. Been using AE for a few months, but I can't grasp the transparency properties either.

    Or...

why not just leave the background black and use the Premiere luma key rather than chromakey -same difference

    Or...

(and I might be wrong here because I'm not an expert at AE)

Do things properly and export your clip from Premiere and use it as the background plate in your AE project. AE is a compositing tool so why not use it to do the compositing. You'll have a much wider scope to the effects you can create.
