Default Cameramen/women and editors - the going rate?

    Hi all,

I am looking at potentially launching a video service, and need to get an idea of the cost. Is anybody able to tell me how much I can expect to pay for the following talent please?

Video journalist, with own camera equiptment. 3 month contract, working 7am-11am, Monday to Friday.

Video editor with own PC/ Mac and software. 3 month contract, working 8am-1pm, Monday to Friday.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can't tell you, Midnight. Well, I could, but then I'd have to kill you :p

I've been quoted between 10k and 12k per person, for the full three months.

    Sound about right?

Unless it's a shed load of money - and I mean a shed load I'd avoid like the plague. I know a lot of people that work on some of the biggest ships, both as techs and acts - and aside from the fact it's only a couple of hours in the afternoon at showtime and a repeat again in the evening - so therefore a very easy life - it's a otherwise a dull, boring, repetitive existence only slightly compesated for by the fact you get to see nice places. Unless you want a string of affairs, one night stands and a divorce that is.
