Thread: NASCAR style annotation bubles

    Default NASCAR style annotation bubles

My friend races soap box cars and I wanted to make a suggestion for his videos but I don't know what it's called. What do you call the little popup boxes with pointers that shows the cars number, lap, and speed on a nascar video?

I thought it would be neat if my friend could place the same type of annotation in his videos. Can you point me to a tutorial or example that shows how this could be done in a post processed video?

I guess you'd need to use a compositing software, After Effects is good for this kind of thing, and I believe they would use some kind of motion tracking as well to get the little pointers to follow the car. Someone's just posted a tutorial on here about motion tracking on After Effects, but you may want to get to know the basics of After Effects because it can be quite complicated. I suggest checking out: VIDEO COPILOT | After Effects Tutorials, Plug-ins and Stock Footage for Post Production Professionals.

    Hope this helps.
