Default MAC OR PC LAPTOP FOR VIDEO EDITING? or should i upgrade my desktop?

so my laptop is broke and i could use a new one. im getting into hd film and have several full length films in mind to shoot. in comparison i can get a $1300 macbook pro with 2 gigs of ram and an i5 or a pc laptop with an i5 with around 2.2ghz or higher) and 6 gigs of ram for about $1000 or with an i7 2ghz with 8 gigs of ram for $1100.

    1. which would render full length 1080 hd video/films faster with the least amount of problems?

    2. what would i have to change on my desktop pc to make it render faster? i have a 2.2 athlon single core (i believe) and a x850xt video card and 3 gigs of ram and it takes 19 hours to render 22 minutes of 1080 hd footage. terrible. what would the order of my upgrade priorities be? my desktop motherboard only handles up to 4 gigs of ram.

basically i would like to be able to render a full length movie in under 10 hours and if there is a laptop that can do this or if i can upgrade my desktop to do this without going RAID.
