Thread: Horizontal lines in Render

  1. Default Horizontal lines in Render

    Hi Everyone
We haven't been here for a while, been too busy making music.
However we have a new music video we've been trying to finish filming.

Everything looks fine until we render down & then horizontal lines appear whenever fast movement occurs. We thought of using a faster shutter speed but it hasn't made much difference.
We cant work out if it's a camcorder problem or a problem caused by render settings.
We havent used our camcorder or Sony Vegas in nearly a year so its possible we have forgotten something!!
Any help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sarah

OK, Sistren, all the usual shtick to submit here. You know the drill:

    1) Vegas Project Settings?

    2) Media you are using? Shot on what camera? Or material you are importing?

    3) What format and codec/compression you are using?

    4) What Format are you rendering to?

PLUS PLUS PLUS: A Screengrab of WHAT you are seeing and on WHAT Device you are seeing it?

Thanks Grazie & Andy for the quick reply
    As you requested Grazie:

    1) Vegas Project Settings?
    HDV 1080-50i 25fps
    Render quality ; Best
    Deinterlace Method: None
    Field Order: upper Field first
    Pixel Format: 8 Bit

    2) Media you are using? Shot on what camera? Or material you are importing?
    Mini DV tape, Canon HV30

    3) What format and codec/compression you are using?
MPEG2 .m2t sorry dont know the codec /compression

    4) What Format are you rendering to?
Sony AVC template mp4 also tried wmv

From the link you posted Andy our problem is obviously this deinterlace thing but the article is was a bit over my head & I couldnt work out the remedy from it.
I'm under a bit of pressure, everyone is coming up to stay the night so we can film & at the moment unless I can sort this out there wont be any point doing any more filming!

    many thanks

    Sarah

Classic de-interlace - Nothing at all to stop you filming - the error comes about when you render - so just check - in your render settings deinterlace method probably is set to none.

Thank you Andy that is brilliant news I was so worried all our filming was ruined!
However i can't see anything in the Render settings about deinterlacing? It says Field Order (None) ,is that it? It mentions deinterlace in the Project Properties where Deinterlace is set to None, is that where we should change it?
    I do appreciate your help!

Personally, I'd use Interpolate for the field settings in your project settings. Then use the 50i template to render, but change the quality/speed setting slider all the way to 'quality'. Try a short clip with the field order set to 'upper' (which is the default for m2t) then another as 'none'. See what you prefer.
