Thread: Unable to load cassette

    Default Unable to load cassette

    Handycam video Hi8 (TR760E).
The loading mechanism works ok without the cassette. When a cassette is loaded and the the side is closed it clicks in and then opens. I have tried holding it closed but it will not load. I have tried other cassettes. I wonder if spraying the mechanism with switch cleaner would damage anything. Any advice will be appreciated.

If the mechansim works without a casste - its not the mechansim. So probably not. And unwise anyway as overspray will almost certainly coat everything else including the heads.

I have decided not to spray, but while playing with the camcorder it started to work and played back the tape. I rewound it to record to computer form the beginning.
However it would not play and flashing indicators appeared in the view finder. These idicate moisture condensation has occured. I removed the cassette cover and the cassette and left the camcorder in our heated lounge for two days. The fault remains but the lens are not fogged and I am sure there is no condensation now. Could the sensor be faulty and can it be fixed.

You need to contact a camera repair specialist. No one can confidently answer that one unless they have the camera in their hands to test it out. Bear in mind it is donkeys years old - so it wouldn't be a surprise if things started packing up on it...
