    hey

    is there any possible way i can edit or even watch full hd h.264 movies from canon eos 550/rebel T2i on a laptop like this:
    hp pavilion zv5000
    pentium 4, 3,20GHz
    1,12GB RAM
    graphisc ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP
    windows xp
    there's 74,5GB disc, but i have 500GB external.

    i can't play those movies... but i don't know anything about codecs and stuff, so maybe i just need something?

    The thing you are seriously short of there is RAM. You might like to try something like the Crucial Scanner to see if you can upgrade it.

    i can go at maximum 2GB

    I have an old laptop with a 1.8gig processor and 2gb RAM and it will play avchd, but jerkily. Your processor is nearly twice that speed! So, maybe??

    is avchd as heavy as h.264? (sorry i don't really know the subject, i just want a freedom of editing and can't afford a new pc right now)
    u think that i should invest in ram or just collect money for a new one to be...

    AVCHD = h.264.
    It may play it, but no way will it edit it. Best start saving, as to edit HD successfully you will need min quad core and 4gb ram, preferably more. Have a look in the forums for specs of different machine and at Marc's blog where there is an entry on editing on laptops.

    Default What should i do?

    I just got a new hd camcorder and the editing is really laggy so i wanna get a new computer. I wanna be able to smoothly edit and i also like gaming so right now im looking at a m11X alienware laptop. Alienware M11x Laptop Details | Dell. Would i have to upgrade the ram to 8gb or like upgrade to a
    Intel CoreTM i5 520UM (1.86GHz/3MB cache). What should i do?
