    Welcome to the forums aljaxon.

I'm not sure how much experience you have video editing, but I would suggest you read this introduction to DVD authoring

cheers i got it sorted it was just a matter of adjusting settings before encoding and burning
pic quality is fine i wouldnt say excellent but for some reason tmpgenc just creates black screen mpeg2's out of the avi's that premiere pro exports so it looks like im a bit limited at the mo
i am capturing from a dv camcorder by firewire and have only a couple of minor bugs using premiere pro but i am getting to grips with it and will soon be boring the pants off all and sundry at barbecues parties etc

    Default dv to dvd cont

first time i tried exporting to dvd the pic quality was poor but a quick change in setting to the 7mb vbr 2 pass with surcode fixed that
however the surcode was only a 3 go trial and the next preset setting is only one pass or cbr
i had a go at editing the surcode setting by using mainconcept audio 224 bitrate and am half way through transcoding as i type
i want the best possible quality possible as my home movies will end up small so as not to be boring
has anyone a good template for pal dvd i can dl or what settings do you recommend?
can premiere pro output mpeg2 files that i can create vobs out of using tmpegenc dvd author 1.6 as i find that v easy to use and can set chapters etc

    edit
just burned a dvd and it had no audio yet i selected mainconcept audio as stated above
    any ideas?
a method of trial and error is taking too long even with a 10 minute clip
am gonna try burning a 20 second clip until i get excellent pic with audio
    unless someone helps me!!!

    2ND EDIT
i simply selected pcm audio and it worked
wonder why main concept audio wouldnt?
