Unhappy Someone pls put me out my torture: Smudgy pixels just at ~6min in Vegas Rendering

    Hi Guys/Gals

I hope someone can Pls, Pls, Pls put me out of my torture.

I've been trying to find a solution for the past month to no avail and finally will appeal to you wise veterans for advice (don't like to be a burden and bother people when I can figure it out - usually)

    Problem:

Smudgy pixels (artifacting?) at around ~6 mins into the vegas timeline
    which:

1/ makes it look really bad (unprofessional)
2/ seems to throw audio out of sync ever so slightly enough to be obvious and really annoying

What I've done to try and diagnose problem:

Thought it was original source MOD video file so played it with VLC and couldn't see problem there
so RERECORDED again (thinking it was a slight camera hiccup)

    NO luck

Looked at previous video I made with Vegas, opened up .veg file and went to around 6 min mark
and surprise, surprise - Mr Smudgy Pixels (Mr SP) showed up

    So read at:
    http://www.videoforums.co.uk/general...moi-files.html
and thought it was .MOD file problem within Vegas so

tried to rename file suffix from Video.MOD to Video.MPG

    Made it worse in Vegas!

so used SDcopy to convert it into MPG from instructions here:
Convert MOD Files To MPEG-2 On Mac And PCs
(see answers to comments by TechnoDummy)

Still no Love! same Mr Smudgy Pixels

Then came across a thread which was something about disabling resampling and making media progressive which I also did:
Interlace artifacts in Sony Vegas - Progressive source

...Still getting rejected by Mr Smudgy Pixels

and finally this thread of help and appeal to you all

I thought it was my rendering output type but thinks it may not be...

    My Specs:

    Camera: Canon FS22 Legria
Output: .MOD file with 4:3 ratio (I think)

Software: Sony Vegas Pro 9: Version 9.0c (Build 896)

    Computer specs:

    Windows 7 Pro 32 bit
AMD Athalon II x4 620 processor
    (4 CPUs, ~2.6 GHz)
    RAM: 2Gb

    = = =

Any help, advise at all to solve this wretched curse would be a like a call from the angels

    with much, much appreciation
    Adams aka Alex

P.S. Not sure if seeing video file would help:

    Code:
    http://vimeo.com/18858987
    PASSWORD: thankyou

Mr SP debuts at 5:20, 6:01 and 6:11

"P.S. Not sure if seeing video file would help". - I am!

    Couple of points:

1] You have a really complex conversion workflow

2] You're 2 updates of VP9 behind. Why? Anyway, you maybe missing out on some improves.

3] Sumdgy Pixels MAY/can be achieved by adding Motion Blur to the Master Video Bus. Are you using this?

    Hi Grazie

    Thanks for your reply.

I'll upload the video so you can see what I mean

    Re
1] Not really sure what conversion workflow means.

I'm guessing it's converting the media file to be used in Vegas?

If that's the case, Ideally I just want to drag and drop the .MOD file
into the timeline and off we go
    (I'm all for simple)

But because I get Mr Smudgy Pixels within Vegas, I was trying to mitigate it
thinking the problem was the .MOD file and hence trying to use different conversion ways
outlined to make Vegas like it.

2] Partner doesn't want me to drop more money to update it when
    it's not working already

3] Being a Very Novice user , have no idea what a Master Video Bus is so nope,
not using it to my knowledge.

    = = =

will try and upload video so the problem is clearer

Just letting you know Grazie that I've asked around and found a friend who has a later version
to try out the render again on his computer to see if it's a software issue instead of flogging a dead horse.

    Thanks mate
