Our first Film of the Month selection for 2011 is Audio Addiction’s ‘9 Samurai’, a superb experimental music video from award-winning director, Jasmin Jowdry, working with director of photography, Tobia Stempi. Reviewed in detail on our site by FutureMovies’ Jay Richardson, this moody, brooding film is set in a futuristic factory-world where experiments on caged animals are commonplace.

The music is based on the Seven Samurai Suite from Akira Kurosawa’s classic movie, accompanied by multi-repetition of a spoken word sample from Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry: “A stone will be thrown at the state and a stone will be thrown at the churches”.

9 Samurai can be viewed for free on our site, along with our latest Critics Choice selections. You can also download them for keeps in seven different formats from just 65p, with generous discounts if you buy more than five films at the same time.
