    Default Limitations of Panasonic AG-HMC40

I am using this camera to record night scenes. I am having a problem in low light situations, in that I cannot open the aperture wide enough to get a decent picture in the manual mode. I have lowered the shutter speed to 1/30 and set the user3 button to high gain (34dbmax), but still am not getting usable pics without boosting in post and suffering alot of real graininess. Any suggestions?

Not much to suggest here other than investing in some lighting. Not meant to be as trite as it sounds - I just don't honestly know what else you can do. Maybe one option is to film at dusk and close it down to simulate night. Not as daft as it sounds - older movies were often done this way.
