Default Using Camcorder As A Webcam

I have a Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG20 video camera which I was hoping to be able to use as a web cam. I connected it to my PC using the USB cable and the camera menu prompts me for a selection which includes PC Camera which I select.

The software I am intending to use to view and edit the footage is Power Director 9 which immediately recognises that a camera is connected but I can't view any images because my camera is not allowing the throughput of images.

As soon as I connect the USB camera the view screen blanks out so I can't see anything.

    How do I overcome this?

I checked the camera and software menu for any obvious settings that I should select but can't see an option to overcome this.

    Thanks for any help provided.

Not sure specifically how to deal with this but I can direct you to the source of the problem... the camcorder. Most standard camcorders will not double up as a webcam unless made that way so you need to get into the manual or go to the manufacturers website to see if it can be done.
