Thread: Combining Clips in Premiere Elements

Default Combining Clips in Premiere Elements

It's easy to use the razor tool to create clip separators. Sometimes this is necessary, such as when you want to lower the sound level of an audio spike or if you want to delete a segment.

However, this then leaves clip separators around that are no longer needed and somethimes get in the way of other operations (it's difficult, if not impossible to have effects that cross clip boundaries, for example).

How can I combine two adjacent clips into one? Put another way, how can I remove clip separators?

    Thanks,
    Mike.

In premiere pro your timeline is called a sequence. Sequences can be embedded within other sequences. This will create the effect you want and is the standard way of adding the same effect across a multiple of clips.

Don't know if Elements works the same way.

As I side note Alan, I recommend you install Premiere Elements on your other machine at home. You'll be suprised at how closely it resembles Pro (after unhiding a few bits), and how much better it is for the beginner than Pro...

I take your point Marc but I'm not likely to pay for Elements just to install it on a second machine for the purpose of answering fiorum questions. Especially when I'll not actually use it for anything else.

I think I'll just continue with my 'in Premiere pro' answers and if they don't translate across then all we've lost is alittle bit of my time in answering.
