Default VCR 2 PC How To....?

    Hello All,

I recently purchased a Nicam Video, and have a few videos that I wish to transfer to my PENTIUM 3 500Mhz PC. I am using Pinnacle Studio 8 which shipped with it's own PCI Double port Firewire card. What will be the easiest fastest and cheapest way for me to connect my VCR to my PC using the firewire port.

    PLEASE HELP

    It gets asked a lot.

Good luck with that setup, you'll probably need some sort of hardware capturing device, i can't see that box being able to encode in realtime. do you have a dvcam?

the only thing you can't do is write the output back to a tape. how important is that?

I was hoping you could have recommended the required hardware for my setup instead of been vague?

Yeah, you're right. Dunno what i was on about. What i should be asking is if your camera has analogue in? It could be that you can plug your VCR into it, and then the firewire card into the PC, and capture the video as DV.

Default NICAM VHS VCR 2 PC HOW TO.....?

Okay that sounds like we could be moving somewhere. I have recently connected my DV Camera to my VCR using, phono to DV at the end of that cable that connects to DV one end the other end we have 3 phono's 2 which carry audio for channels left and right, then the other phono carrys the video signal. Are you okay with this so far? I have at the back of VCR x2 scart sockets, so I use a phono to scart convertor which then plugs to VCR. Do you understand all this TECHIE STUFF? Okay now how would I link up my PC to communicate with my VCR, so that I may transfer Video to the PC?

Problem is, you might only have video-out on your camera. We'll give it a bash anyway.

I googled for your model of camera, but couldn't find anything. I'd imagine it'd tell you in the manual if it supports passthrough/analogue input.

I'm happy for you. Kinda odd to mention that though, unless you're donating it to gospelkid
