Default Noobie question on running mic direct to computer

    Hi all,

First time on this board; excuse the dumb question.

How do I run my new Kam C-3 mic into my computer so I can record directly in Adobe Soundbooth? I've got the mic, connected the cord, purchased a 1/4 inch male to 1/8 in male adapter (is that the problem?) and connected directly to my mic in.

I have a cheezy computer mic that works on the port, so I know its not the computers connector.

    Thanks!

    SMiles

Your microphone requires 48v phantom power which no computer delivers through its 1/8 audio socket I'm afraid.

Would that mean I'd need some kind of pre-amp between the mic and PC? Or a small mixer board?

    Thanks!

Yes; either a stand alone preamp with phantom power or a mixer that has it will work fine.
