Default Codec problems with Adobe Premiere Pro

I'm trying to edit a video clip in Adobe Premiere Pro, but it doesn't seem equipped to play the clip properly. First of all, it's an flv clip, so I had to install a plugin just to be able to import the clip. However, it doesn't play the clip correctly, and I think it might be because the codec (vp6 codec) is missing. Can I install codecs manually? Incidentally, most movie players don't play the clip correctly either. VLC, media player classic etc don't work. The only thing that works is a dedicated flv player which seems to be equipped to play vp6 codec video.

The On2 Vp6 codec is an excellent output codec for .flv as it keeps a great image qaulity to file size ratio for web video. This is because it's a highly compressed lossy output format, it's not for editing. You could try converting it to something edit friendly, perhaps Premiere wont play it well, but might export it ok. Have you tried exporting it as a editing format, then bringing it back in to edit?

There are a number of free programs that will convert flv files to almost anything you want (although they all output various formats better than others). Try Any Video Converter.
