depending on the length of clip, that can make it still far too big. You don't want to be sending dvd-res mpeg-2 by email. Most email accounts won't accept big attachments anyway.
I'd recommend that the OP googles for an app called "fairuse". This will let you select a section, however small or large, and convert it to xvid, for good file sizes and good quality.
