Synopsis: An underwear sniffing zombie attacks two unprepared men. They must defend their house and honour.

Nice one lads. The thing that stands out is the effort you have made with the sound, for me this brings up the production value a lot. Did you over dub ? Good camera work also And I think the talent did a good job. (yes I know it's you) I think just a little tightening up on the editing is needed. For example at 49 secs I would have cut a little sooner to the through the kitchen window shot. I'm only meaning half a second or so but in editing terms there are (in the UK) 25 frames per second. But on the whole I thought the editing was good. I didn't get the first gag but I chuckled at most of the jokes. As you have posted a few videos and have got better I have gotten more picky about this but found it hard to pick holes in it.

I think this is your best video so far, well done.

    Wicked feedback man thanks

We did make a particular effort with sound this time as it has always let us down. It was a combination of using the NTG-2 mic on set and ADR. The only redub were the first 2 lines when the characters meet.

I'd agree with the opening gag, the character is wearing 3D glasses and in hindsight it probably would have been funnier to just stare at the porn on the walls.

    Thanks again

Being a while since we've seen something from you, I hadn't remembered that it was the sound that had let you down. I've no doubt thta it was much better than in the past (now I've been reminded) but my main criticism when watching (before reading Midnight's commenst above) was that the sound could be improved! Sorry.
It's nice and clear most of the time, but the second character's first (OK second) line "there's a zombie outside sniffing your skids" was rather lost due to a combination of three things (1) we couldn't see hiom speak it so all visual cues were lost, (2) the sound didn't match the visuals - it was clearly overdubbed or close mic'd. If you're going to ADR it would be better to record in a similar environment and (3) most importantly - it was rather rushed.

The other sound problem was that you've recorded the sound with too high a gain, so that clipping is occurring. Remember that unlike analogue recording, with digital, you cannot go into the red (oh yeah, you probably don't remember analogue ) If you want examples listen to 2:19 to 2:24 for a particularly ad bit.

However, I thought the script was great, the shots were bang on and the editing was pretty good (we can always find room to trim a few bits). I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I particularly liked the opening pan/tilt. Very smooth and a nice way to introduce the character, the film and the title. Nice close too.

Just seen the comment about the opening gag. I rather thought Midnight meant the "sniffing your skids" gag rather than the 3D. I thought the 3D glasses gag worked well.

I totally get what your saying Tim. The Sniffing skids gag was lost not because of a bad recording but the guys diction is not great. If the souse material is not good ie the guys voice, then the best mic in the world, perfectly placed will just make a good recording of a badly delivered line. Which is what the problem is here I think. Yes there was some clipping but I noticed they had made a big effort on the sound and thought I should acknowledge that.

Absolutely right that you should, too. I probably would have done too, if you hadn't already mentioned it (and, if I'd remembered how bad it was in prevous films!) I certainly didn't want to put the dampeners on it - but to point out that it could be even better with very little additional effort. My objective was purely to encourage.

    Thanks guys

I appreciate the huge debate this has started.

I know there is one sequence where the mic peaks, it's really annoying and the only way around it is to redub as I didn't have time to reshoot. As I'm sure you're aware ADR is an art form in its own but we tried.

The ADR was recorded in the kitchen so it should match the scene. A little reverb was added also.

I'm pleased you picked up on the 3D glasses Tim because I thought it was completely over looked.

Overall I'm glad you feel we're improving, cheers
