Default Lite-On SOHW-1653s & Pioneer DVR-109 and still no movies

Would be extremely greatful if anyone could help with a major problem I am having with DVD writers:-

I have a Dell Dimensions 2400, Last month I bought a Lite-On SOHW-1653s DVD writer, it writes data to a DVD fine, but when I try to burn movies It does not work, I have tried different software e.g Nero & Roxio.
I even thought it could be the DVD writer and went out and bought a Pioneer DVR-109 today and I still get the same problem, I have also tried uninstalling and re-installing Windows XP pro.
Please help me as I so much want to burn home movies of the kids to DVD.

When Using Nero I get the following error
    19:16:27 #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2598
Verifying disc position of item 0 (not relocatable, no disc position, no patch infos, orig at #0): target disc position #150 differs

    19:16:27 #15 TRANSFER -30 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2599

    19:16:27 #16 Phase 38 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832
