Thread: 60 Fps camcorder

  1. Default 60 Fps camcorder

Hello, I have being after camcorder that records HD 60p 720p or 1280p the reason being that im going to slow down the clips with a plugin called twixtor to make amazing slow motion scenes when i want to, also i wanted it to have a good lens and that.

I found that the HDC-SD700 shoots 60fps but thats only the american version and the english one only does 50fps, would their be anyway to alter the firmware or something to get 60fps or would i have to buy the american version of the camcorder.

Would it be worth waiting for a new range of camcorders to come out with the 60p? Thank you.

There are different video standards between the UK and the USA. The UK standard frame rate is 25 fps this can be multiplied by two to get 50 fps the USA standard is 30 fps which again can be brought up to 60 fps. I don't think you will get any benefit from using a US camera and getting an extra 10 fps recording. So, there would be no point trying to change the firmware.

There are specialised cameras which shoots at much faster frame rates that would give much better results. Like the Olympus i-speed

    Nice to see you back.

Hey, good to see you answering my questions again . Well i was thinking that the extra 10 frames per second would make a difference when it comes to using twixtor.

I've got a quite big budget round about 1500 pounds but theirs nothing in that kind of price range anyway i could go lower and get a consumer camcorder or go higher and get a professional one but i can't really go any higher so i think the hdc-tm700 would be the best option.

Thanks i will probally buy this camcorder, can anyone recomend a good tripod for me? thanks
