    Default Sound Question

I am using an ATI AIW 8500 as my video capture card and a SoundBlaster Live Value card for audio. The sound input is going through the "mic" jack on the SB card as that was the only way I could seem to get it to work. Synchonization seems fine. Whether watching TV or recording from tape though, the sound is okay, but not great. It seems to be too loud at times.

Any tips to try to improve the quality?

I tried that, but perhaps I did not make the adjustment properly. I will check again.

I would not use the mike input for a start. Use the line in, then goto the record options in the sound mixer an select the line in as the recorded source. It should work then and the gain structure should be much better balenced.
