Thread: Best quality DVD ?

    Default Best quality DVD ?

Can anyone tell me what sort of settings I should be using to get the best quality dvd.
I am using Ulead video studio 8.
Would a dedicated DVD authoring program give me any different settings to use to get the best possible quality.
    I currently use a CBR bitrate of 8000kbps. :

Most commercial films on DVD are VBR'ed at between 6000-6500kbs, not burnt as we would do but pressed. To suit most standalone players (and by burning the DVD's) it is not recommended to go above (image+sound) 7500kbs and to burn at as slow a speed as possible

I never knew that it was best to stay under 7500kbs, I assumed that 8000kbs CBR would be the highest quality possible.

That might explain why my dvd seemed to look a little better when I used the auto settings in Encore than when I used TMPGEnc at 8000kbs CBR.

I wonder why the 7500 limit for burning/standalone players?

    Very useful information. Cheers.

The 8,000kbs standard limit is for video only.
