Thread: which software for background music ??

Default which software for background music ??

I'm looking for software that I had seen in action while back and can't remember what it was For creating background ambience music.

-you can select the instrument from piano to drums to whatever.
-you select the style, disco rumba etc.
-you can select the pace faster or slower.

The options were endless and you could easily create background music just by selecting these combinations. I'm not interested in using soundtracks or music loops, I like the flexibility of creating my own.

Does anybody recognize the software that I'm describing? maybe you could point me in the right direction....

    Thanks

    Rene

Sorry, I don't recognise this. It sounds interesting but it must use music loops or soundtracks.

You're hardly creating your own music if you don't specify the actual notes, are you?

If you're talking PC the following may prompt your memory:

Sony Cinescore - discontinued - soundtrack creation (but it still relied on pre-recorded soundtracks)

SmartSound SonicFire Pro - very wide selection and very customisable for lengh and mix

Digital Juice Staxx Traxx - again a wide selection, fixed lengths, but customisable mix of instruments.

If Cinescore is what you wanted I'll sell you my copy, plus a couple of of "theme" packs as I no longer use it.

I remember a program like that. It was a midi based sound/music creation program. I think it was called Music Maker, there was another one I use to have called JamStudio.

    Hold on............

.......I found THIS is this the kind of thing you ment.

"Band-in-a-Box" from PG Music Inc. - Band-in-a-Box, PowerTracks Pro Audio, and More... might be of interest.

I guess you're not interested in Cinescore then
I was going to as 50 (invc "Pass the Ring" and "Incredible Vistas" themes, but I wouldn't pay that for it.

Be careful of the Magix stuff - I seem to recall that you're obliged to credit them on anything you produce using it (no biggie, but you don't want to fall foul of it) and watch out for restrictions as to use.
