    Default Sony Driver Issue Windows 7

    Hi all new to the forum as i have an issue with installing my driver for my sony DCR-HC14E off the original picture package cd, i try to install off the cd but it keeps telling me there is a compatibility issues and wont install on windows 7 and im unable to capture any film in Vegas either has anyone got and ideas i have searched over the net for a driver but nothing is working is there anything i can do to resolve this issue?.

    That's a miniDV camera, and therefore doesn't required drivers to install. Make sure you've hooked up the camera via firewire, switch it to play, and Windows will automatically recognise the camera.

    I have always gone USB, will look for a Firewire cable now, i downloaded that updated software and it couldnt find my cam it must be because im using USB. cheers for the help

    Always use F/W for video - I've always assumed the PMB is for stills recorded on memory card?

    Im guessing i just plug the firewire cable into the same place as i did with the USB on the cam, but are all the cables and connections the same on all the sony cams? i dont want to buy the wrong cable im guessing amazon or ebay will be the place to get one.

    Why on earth would you think that?????

    Firewire is most definately NOT usb and they are not interchangeable - Your camera has the i.LINK (DV) Output socket as well as USB.

    NB - If in doubt - check your manual or source it online...
