  1. Default Sony hvr a1e

Hi there. How does sony hvr a1e stand up to other camera of around the same price when it comes to making shorts? can anybody tell me, looking to use two of these cams to film a short with a number of indoor/outdoor daytime and nighttime shots and just wondering, has attempted this with this particular camera. I have used before, however only or documentary style filming in which I found it was very impressive

As one of our ex-forum regulars used to say - don't obsess over the camera, obsess over your skills.

The A1E is a very good little 1080 camera with pretty much manual everything in the menus. The main downside I found when I used one was a limited audio capability.

Other than that, used correctly, you'll be able to produce fine work. Mine has sat unused since the touchscreen menu failed. Probably a minor repair that I ought to get sorted.

The video guys at my old work raved about the A1e, and recommended it to me when I was looking to buy a camera. I ended up buying the Panasonic HMC41E which I am very happy with.

I think, from memory, the reason I opted against the a1e is because it recorded to tape, rather than SDHC cards.
