  1. Exclamation sony vegas 8.0 problem (information pasted inside) heeeeelp!!!

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to help me out, I really appreciate it a lot! Please bare with me through this paragraph, thanks!

I've been trying to edit a video, well, I got the editing all done, it's only a 1 minute movie (music video) but it keeps crashing when rendering. I used a canon 7d to film. the files are mp4 or somthing like that, either way, i converted them to .avi files n used those to edit it in vegas. Finally finished the project, went to render at 8mbps HD .wmv file (so i can upload to utube) but it either freezes or shuts down during rendering. I had one .mov files in the whole project which was something i edited in after effects, but this shouldnt be a problem since i've rendered .avi and .mov files in the same project before. Anyway, i figured i'd just split the rendering up, since the program doesn't seem to crash when i only render a few seconds at a time. I managed to render 14 parts for the full 1 minute file, then i opened up a new project and brought the 14 HD wmv files in, put them together into the full video and clicked render (i rendered with the same settings i used to render each of the 14 parts). the program either froze or crashed just like the other project. I'm confused. help please!!!!

here are the "details" it brought up when the program froze or crashed:

  2. Default

I think you should test avi or m2t render options. The problem could be the wmv codec. If that doesnt work, the problem could be in program.Try this: save the project file and download sony vegas 9pro trial, install it and open the project that you have created in vegas 8, and try to rendering with vegas9.
    Hope this helps!
    (I know,programs are sometimes just ******)

  3. Default

i'll try that. one thing though. i used magic bullet, the add on for vegas, on almost all the clips in the file. is it ok if i install sony 9, will magic bullet automatically be on the program? also if i get vegas 9, does it ask to uninstall 8? thanks

  4. Default

k i installed 9 and the program won't even open the file. i think its because of magic bullet or something else to do with all the effects i used in vegas 8.0. any other suggestions??

    thanks!

  5. Default

Ohh. Did you try to render the video to avi or mpg? Youtube supports also these. Try also various quality options: 1280x720 HD AVI,PAL DV...try various rendering.

  6. Default

i tried mpeg2. it worked! must have been the wmv codec or something? anyway, thanks

  7. Default

yeah, probably wmv codec problem. What windows media codecs u have? Because if you havent newest wmv codecs, render will not work.
    Posted via Mobile Device

  8. Default

    how do i check that?

  9. Default

If you have windows media player 11,you probably have newest codecs. The wmv problem can also due to vegas windows media codec. But good if mpeg worked! DOnt forget to post the link of your here!=)

  10. Default

i dont even know how to check if my wmv is 11. but in vegas it says windows media 9.....oh...and the mpeg worked the first time, but it was just a rough copy of it. i finally finished it and rendered mpeg again and now its freezing and ending prematurely again :(
