Exclamation Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10: Squashed Image

    Hello:

I'm new to the Sony Vegas products, so bear with me...

I've got a problem with imported QuickTime video that gets squashed horizontally. I've tried changing the pixel aspect ratio and various other settings, but Vegas insists on altering the aspect ration of the video. I'm dead in the water until this can be resolved.
The original QT video is 720w x 486h. There's a black matte on either side of the image that I would like to remove, and I wonder if somehow that is effecting Vegas' behavior.

Thumbs up How I Fixed It

I had this same problem. I was trying to import a .mov file into Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, and no matter what settings I put on the project or the render output, the movie was always horizontally squished. I finally found out that Vegas Movie Studio doesn't read mov file properties accurately. After you import the video, you need to change how Vegas Movie Studio sees the video properties.

Right click on the imported media in the "Project Media" tab, and click on "Properties". Now change the "Pixel aspect ratio" to match the aspect ratio of your movie.
