Unhappy Sony Vegas 10 - Terribly slow rendering!

    Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and new to video editing, so please bare with me!
I'm trying to edit 1920x1080@60i footage shot with a Canon HF100 (.m2ts files) using Sony Vegas Studio HD Platinum 10.0.
My output is AVCHD 1920x1080@60i with the goal of burning it to a DVD for playing on the PS3.

When it's time for rendering however, I can render a 15 minutes video in 9 hours, which seems crazy for me, especially considering it was much faster when I used Power Director.

    My specs are Q9550@stock, 8GB DDR2, HD4870 1GB.

I know rendering is CPU-dependant but I doubt my CPU is outdated? I get better performance with other software! Is there anything I should know? Can i use my GPU for faster rendering too?

Thanks in advance and sorry for what could be a silly question!

    What are your project settings?

Apart from the video what other media are you using?

Thanks. I'm not using anything else apart from fade in-out transitions between scenes. I don't have any music, special fx or still pictures.
What do you mean by project settings?

I had the same problem the first time I was trying to render videos, especially HD video.

What I found the solution to be was the completely restore my computer back to factory settings. I can only assume I had so much cache stored in my computer from watching thousands of hours of online videos that it made it run terribly slow, because after doing so I was able to render 10-20 minute videos in 1-3 hours vs. 100 hours (no joke) it would have taken me prior.

Someone tried telling me I needed a $7000 computer to render them that speed, which was obviously BS

So Id say give that a go, be sure to back up all of your files though, because you'll have to re-install anything that didn't come already installed on your computer when you bought it.

check the video levels on the headers on the left are set to 100% as they increase rendering time.
