Thread: Proxy editing

  1. Default Proxy editing

Hello I am beginer in editing and need some help.
I Ve got some footage from a friend and there are three types of files/containers/formats ,I dont know how do you call all these diferent formats.

    -MPEG2 --- made with cannon 5d
    -MOV --- made with a Cannon 5d
-AVCHD Video (.M2T) ---made with Sony Z7
I am thinking of proxy editing because my computer is not very strong
    P4. 3Ghz 2GB ram
I converted with PremiereCS4 Encore all those files into dv avi format, so I can edit it in timeline. So I am going to edit avi dv format and at the end use those original files to finish project. It sounds very simple but can you tell me in detail what is the procedure of proxy editing.I use Edius software
    thanks zak

    Default

Just place the original clips in the time line and select each clip and then click on create proxy or what ever it's called, it's been a while since I used Edius so I can't remember the exact name of the button. Sorry if this is a lame answer.

One of the things I liked about it was it's ability to handle multiple formats on the time line.
