Default High Quality MP4 render settings

Its been a hassel trying to find the best setting.
Ive tried .mp4 and really want to use it but I get a lower quality then the original video.

    Any help?
    Another suggestion?

I really dont want to have 50+ mb file when the video is only 30 seconds long

    Thanks in advance

You'll have to tell us a bit more about the footage is it SD or HD, what image size do you want it, Is it for YouTube or some other final viewing, etc...

50mb is tiny! I upload files around 4mins in length to Vimeo that are around 400mb. Can't see what's bothering you with that. Bottom line is; the more you compress, the more quality you throw away. Have you tried AVCHD?

If you keep the bit rate to around 8 or 9 Gb per second, which is around the quality level of an average DVD this should keep your file size low but keep reasonable quality. Remember to select Best for video rendering quality on the project tab.
