Thread: Graphic overlay

    Default Graphic overlay

I've been trying to find out how to apply graphics on top of movies for a while without much luck. Is it anyway to do this in premiere or do I have to use after effects? I'm not talking about putting images in a video, but text and so on that can be animated.
Like I said I've tried looking.. If anyone have any good tutorials or something I'd appreciate it

    Default Anumated text

I read that AE users fall into 2 distinct categories - graphics specialists, or text animators.

AE is probably your best bet - it has dozens of text presets that can be tweaked many different ways. Download the 30-day trial from adobe. Lots of tutorials on the Adobe site as well.

You said 'text.....and so on.' By this do you mean graphics like llustrator files?

    Thanks for answering!
I've never used Illustrator so I'm not sure what that is. But I was thinking of small icons and such made in photoshop with a transparent background or something. I'll check out the trial version, thanks!

Quickest and easist way to insert a graphic overlay in Premiere is:

    File > New > Title

Title > Logo > Insert Logo

If I misunderstood, I apologise. Inserting stills as overlays with transparency in Premiere is simple, so is inserting text.

But the means of animating these in Premiere is limited. I only meant that AE is more suited to creating motion over time.

Only shifty knows what he means

Don't think it's what you want to do, but thought I'd chip in for the "other" readers (this thread is likely to be picked up as "how do i insert graphics")
