Default Cutting an mp4 file shot on a sony ex1r in vegas?

    Hi All,

    A newbie question, please.

I just got a Sony ex1-r and have some mp4 files that I'd like to cut in Vegas. I know that Vegas only works with .avi files, so I'm wondering how I can cut these mp4 files in Vegas with as little loss of quality as possible.

    Any suggestion are appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

First of all, which version of vegas do you have ? Pro ?
Next, i presume you've got sony clip browser software, from this you can export the EX1 files as any number of format, most useful would be MXF (material exchange format).
Using clip browser, navigate to your EX1 memory card,
    >highlight the clip(s)
    >right click
    >export as MXF
decide where you want the MXF clips to go.
Drag those MXF clips onto the timeline, edit.

Whoever told you that vegas works only with avi was talking rubbish.

    Paul.

Version 9 pro allows mp4 files on the time line.

    Use clip browser to import.

Thanks to all for the answers.

I have the latest version of Vegas + Clipware broswer installed.

And I'm going to give it a go now!

    Best,
