Im using Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro 13".
I even did what one suggestion was and to upgrade from 8.0b to 8.0c - but the same problem persists.
    Any suggestions?

I know this isn't helpful but why would someone with a Mac book Pro be using Windows 7?

I am NOT a computer expert. but if this problem persists I would make sure I had the most up to date drivers for my graphics card and sound card. And make sure you have an updated and correctly installed DirectX. Also make sure no other program is running in the background that may be getting in the way.

Thats about the full extent of my knowledge. Apart from have you tried switching it off wait for 10 seconds and then switch it on again.

Hahah, i know, ive heard it all before
But it was a calculated decision: I decided to move from a Windows PC to a Mac as it was ideal for my university course, and upgraded the ram as necessary so editing video would be smooth - and of course added Win 7.
The annoying thing is, editing video and rendering etc on this was better than on my previous Windows laptop :S lol

But yeah, after restarting and opening the backup - no avail.

Grazie --- i know youre like a Vegas expert - where are you mate??

For that kind of error message, I'd put in a support ticket to Sony Techs. Surprising how fast you can get an answer sometimes.
