Default What File Format to Preserve DV Quality?

OK I am transfering video from mini DV tape cam to the computer. I want to edit it and record back to DV tape. Powerdirector gives lots of options for file format to save downloaded video e.g. AVI, MPEG-2 etc. What file format should I use in order not to lose ANY quality of the original tape footage?

    Thanks
