    Default Question on format.

    Hi all,

I was hoping someone can tell me the best format in which to do this with?

I have a video player connected to my capture card and wish to record some old wedding video's so I can take them in to Vegas and do some edits before running them through DVD architect and get them on to DVD.

Now, The problem I have is I have the capture card on an older pc and Vegas on my newer one.

I have the means to transfer the data from the old pc to the newer one.

So, the question is which would be the best format to capture the video in? AVI, WMV, Mpeg1, Mpeg2 or something else?

I do hope someone can answer as I am VERY new to editing video and I would like to get started

    Thanks in advance.

AVI is the best option, but do a small test bit first to check you can open the file in Vegas and can see the picture and hear any sound.

Capture onto a USB2 HDD and then plug into the Vegas PC and edit on that
