Thread: Audio Ducking

    Default Audio Ducking

Bit of an odd one with 9c. I'm getting the audio of a music track 'ducking' at one particular 'live' piece of audio. (Only 3secs long). Tried the live audio above, below the music - not that that should make any difference. Previews fine, but after rendering to .ac3 I get this 'ducking' effect. Never come across this before. Any ideas folks?

Are you ABSOLUTELY convinced it is DUCKING? This is where one would lower the music track allowing a V/O to be prominent. Is THIS what you are hearing? My only thoughts, as you are going AC-3, is that one of the option for the Stereo DVD template, you CAN invoke Automatic Gain Control (AGC). I am just wondering if this has had the EFFECT that "sounds-like" that of ducking?

In which case, if this does happen, you WOULDN'T hear this in the Preview but ONLY in the Render - yeah?

Capitilization in forums is seen as shouting. Normally you use italics or bold script to emphasise.

OK, weird. Moved it along the timeline, as ZC suggested - no duck. Moved it back to original place.......no duck!! Problem fixed then, but I really like to know why things go pear shaped.

Grazie, I use the customised DD pro template as mentioned here:
Sony Creative Software - Forums - DVD Architect Software Messages

Been using this template for quite a while without probs. Don't see any mention of AGC on the template in 9c?

You can shout now - I'm awake.
