In which case, you could go into the thousands.

If your willing to spend more than $2000, Dell doesn't really have too much on offer.

Have a look at HP Workstations, they're expensive but they also have high computability with picky software such as Avid.

IMO, the best route would be to read up, and build it yourself, or get a friend to build it.

I made up a shopping list on newegg.com and it came to a total of $3,881.81 with the following specs,

    • Dual Intel Xeon E5520 Nehalem Quad Core Processors (8 Physical Cores with 8 Logical Cores with a total of 16 cores)
    • Asus Z8PE-D12 Dual LGA-1366 Motherboard
    • Samsung DVD writer (Came with the Mother board - Special Offer)
    • 2x Noctua NH-U12DX CPU Coolers
    • 36GB of DDR3 WinTec Error Correcting Ram
    • A Plentiful Corsair 100W Power supply
    • PNY Quadro FX 380 Dual DVI Graphic Card
    • 6x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 Hard Drive
      - 1 Stand alone for OS (Or you could get a 7th on and raid 0 it, or get a SSD drive)
      - 2 in Raid 1 Configuration For Master's
      - 2 in Raid 0 Configuration for Project Files
      - 1 Disk as a scratch drive
    • HighPoint RocketRaid 2320 Card to control the Hard Drive
    • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio Card
    • HEc 92 92R9BB Computer Case

If you PM your emails address, i'll send a copy of it wit the links to you (or anyone else for that matter).

I'm sure you have a friend who knows a thing or two about computers that could build this for you, or if all else fails, send me a PM
