Thread: Still image background colour

  1. Default Still image background colour

I have imported a few still images in to Vegas Pro 9.0c, the problem is they are portrait meaning that there are black borders either side when the full portrait image is viewed.

Can I change that background colour from black to something a little more subtle that will blend with the photo?

    Absolutely.
I'd place a video track below the track on which you have the photo.
Then insert a generated media event below the photo. Choose type "solid colour" and choose your colour (use the dropper tool to choose a colour from the background of in the photo for a good match).

I'm not sure how to do that. When I looked the track background the button was greyed out. So I'm baffled about that.

One work around is to add a 16:9 solid colour and then put the photo on top.

Edit I guess Tim was a second quicker than me. lol

Thanks again Tim, and again I was on the right track in my thinking it out, but didn't quite get there, I was simply trying to add the media event to the still image.... I'm starting to think the Sony Vegas way....just not quite there yet!

I have a problem in understanding what you are wanting to achieve?

But then you are wanting to achieve MIXED Events:-

So what is it? Borders or Mixed Events?
