Default Analog To Digital Video Converter

I am new to video editing and wondered if it is advisable to leave my Canopus ADVC 110 permanently connected to my PC via its firewire. The firewire supplies the power to the unit, so this means it would turn on and turn off once each day ( occasionally twice). I use it a fair amount to convert VHS tapes in a VCR to digital files for editing and burning to DVD.

It wont come into any harm by leaving it in if thats what you're asking.

I also heard from Grass Valley tech. support today, the makers of this product. They basically said, like you, that leaving it in would not harm it. But since it is a consumer product and not rated as commercial they would prefer that you unplug the Canopus each and every time you finish using it. And of course it should be plugged and unplugged from its firewire only when the computer is shut down. Thanks Smifis!
