Default Editing Fine, Exporting Problems :\

Here's the deal, I'm new to editing and need some help.
I'm editing a video for an english project, DV/SD 720x480 NTSC.
The editing in premiere pro was a piece of cake, everything runs smoothly and the preview was perfect.
However, after I encode it everything is fine except the video part is flickery/glitchy.
The titles and sound are perfect, but when it gets to the original video part it starts being choppy.
Someone recommended that I convert my original to an uncompressed format before editing. I tried this, but still no luck. No matter what format or setting I use to encode, its still choppy when it gets to the main video. I've encoded probably 10+ times with different settings, and still no luck.
I have the weekend to finish and everyone in my group is counting on me for the grade :\
I'm using CS4. I've also tried remove flicker and that didn't help.
