Thumbs up 3 videos stuck side by side, like super wide screen

Hello I'm new so I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. Please, please help me !

I am recording my experiments that occur in a long wave flume(ccd cameras). I would like to stitch these videos side by side (I need to line them up carefully however) before post processing (particle tracking).

so what software does this? yes I looked (and read the sticky about wiki software descriptions) but my video editing vocabulary is limited leaving me quite confused about what does what!

so that's a resolution of 1024 x 3072 give or take a few pixels overlap.

    the cameras are all stationary

    thanks

Most NLE (Non Linear Editing) software will be able to do this.

All you need is multiple time tracks. One for each stream of video, Then follow the help menu for instructions on how to do Split Screens.

Depending on your budget, I would recomend something form the Sony Vegas range. All of these will be able to do what you want some of them are limited to 4 video tracks.

there is nothing about split screens in the help file, apart from splitting the preview screen for choosing a take. any other terms i should search for?

I see you have edited your first post you will not be able to render at a resolution like that, 1920x1080 is the best resolution you will be able to do but this should be ok for viewing.

There are many tutorials on YouTube, some better than others [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4055E8r5XDM"]THIS LINK[/ame] will get you started.

so what programs can you set the output resolution/aspect ratio. I guess I want a 12 x 3 ratio. surely this is possible?

the video helped a lot by the way!

None that I know of. What will you be viewing the video on ? What resolution does that have ?

1920x1080 is the best consumer full HD TV resolution. Computer monitor are higher but the even the best of these is still only 3840 x 2400 higher than full HD is not commercially available.

Does this help explain things for you.

I realise that you are unlikely to view the movie at 1024x3072. but for the post processing loosing resolution means loosing the particles that the water is seeded with. no particles means no [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particle_image_velocimetry"]PIV[/ame]

I will experiment with the software see what i can do! thanks

What video camera are you using ? At what resolution are you filming?
