Thread: Geotag MTS-files

    Question Geotag MTS-files

My Sony HDR-XR200V has got a GPS receiver. It's used to geotag both pictures and videos. The question is where this information is stored?

In the JPG-files the information is stored in the file itself (EXIF), but as far as I find out the information is not stored in the mts-file (videofile).

When I browse the pictures and videos on the camera they are placed on a map, but when I do the same on my computer using the Sony PMB-program, it only finds locationinformation on the pictures.

    Best Regards,

The GPS information is stored in the H264 video stream of the M2TS container.

See H264 Tags for more information
