Thread: Moving Object Transition

    Default Moving Object Transition

    Hey,

I'm not particularly new to Adobe Premiere/After Effects, but I haven't worked out how to do a transition which involves a close object passing the camera and this is used as a transition. It's quite hard to explain, but I want the content to change behind a moving object.

If nobody but one person gets it, that one person, please explain better than I did .

    Thank you in advance,

Personally I always recommend editting from theoriginal source.

Unless you have planned for that particular transition during shooting then it could be more difficult. If you have to, you could always green/blue screen a close-up of someone walking past or panning an object that wouldn't look too out of place and put that on a layer above where the 2 other clips join.

I think a bit of animation of the two shots to be joined would also help unless the object covers the whole screen for a frame or so.

My only other advice would be to make sure the object is suitably out of focus (possibly in post-production for control).

It can be a bit tricky judging the speed of the side wipe transition against the object. I remember seeing a video which showed this type transition. Tim did an example with a scrolling text, which is a similar principle. Look at 14 seconds in this video
