Default HDV capture issues with vegas pro 8.0c and 9.0c

    Hey folks :

Just picked up a new editing PC and loaded Vegas Pro 9.0c 64bit. When attempting to capture in HDV mode, the device is recognized and properly labeled. All of the VCR controls work (play, rew, etc) and the counter is accurate - but while playing, only a blue screen is shown (no video or audio appears to be making it through). When "capture" is pressed, the camera plays the tape, but nothing is captured and the status indicators on the bottom right of the screen stay at 0. When stop is pressed, no new file has been created.

I heard it was an issue with 9.0c and 64 bit windows 7... so i tried out 8.0c 32-bit and I'm having the same problem.

    Any ideas?

Are you sure your camera is set up to output HDV?
We had a similar problem & this was the reason.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

No, I'm quite sure it's on HD output (on my sony V1U, it means downconvert is off)

It's really starting to confuse me, I'm not sure if it's a windows 7 issue or a software issue (the last version i used was 7).

but i've got to think sony software with a sony camera is a safe bet for compatibility.
